For more than 20+ years Monique Brizz-Walker has partnered with some of New York City’s most esteemed non-profits; planning and managing high-profile events to engage donors and prospects, raising much needed funds and bringing awareness to each organization’s mission and programs. These non-profits include: Central Park Conservancy, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the American Folk Art Museum and the Brooklyn Museum of Art.
Recently, Monique decided to use the expertise she gained as a donor engagement specialist and event planner to launch Event Strategies For Success, a boutique special events consulting firm dedicated to serving leaders and CEOs in the national and global marketplace.
Throughout her career, Monique has successfully marketed and managed unique venues to generate income, planned high-profile events ranging in size from 100 to more than 800 guests, attracted new prospects, secured increased gifts from historical donors, created strategic alliances and enhanced marketing, branding and communications efforts. To-date, she has helped raise an aggregate of $20+ million dollars.
Monique credits these accomplishments to her ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and consultants, board members and stakeholders, vendors and volunteers. When asked for advice on how to engage donors through special events, she stresses the importance of creating a blueprint with clearly defined goals, learning as much as possible about donors and prospects and finding unique ways to share their philanthropy story.
While managing a busy career, Monique has always found ways to give back. A dedicated community advocate and hands-on volunteer, she is affiliated with: Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, Brooklyn’s leading economic development organization for nearly 100 years; Brooklyn Metropolis Lions Club operating under Lions Clubs International, a global organization with more than 1.4 million members worldwide; the Community Leadership Council of Kingsbrook Jewish Medical Center, a full-service teaching hospital serving one of Brooklyn’s most diverse communities; Crown Heights Service Center, a leading after-school service provider with a 40+ year history in Brooklyn, New York; Go On Girl Book Club, a national movement dedicated to fostering awareness and appreciation of diverse literary works by authors of the Africa diaspora and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, a stellar service organization committed to academic achievement and high scholastic standards, unity, friendship and alleviating problems concerning women and girls.
Monique is a proficient speaker and creator of public programs for the organizations she supports.
Monique has been married to Stan E. Walker for the past 30 years. Stan is a dedicated principal, career educator and mentor who has worked with the New York Department of Education for 32 years. They live in Brooklyn, New York.
